WRITTEN BY: Bethany Tapp, certified personal trainer and STOTT Pilates instructor Most people are aware that daily exercise offers many benefits to your life including improved health, focus, productivity, creativity, mood, and fitness level. Most people are aware that guided meditation offers many benefits to the mind but may not be familiar with how guided meditation can improve your work and personal life. Guided meditation has many benefits including, but not limited to, improved mood, increased clarity, sense of relaxation, emotional control, increased focus and productivity. What many people do not realize is that when both practices of guided meditation and exercise are incorporated in your everyday life, they can really enhance your productivity and chance of success, which is something I think all of us are aiming for! Even if you think you don’t have enough time in your day to incorporate both practices of guided meditation and exercise, I’m here to tell you that yes, you can fit these practices into your everyday life! In fact, you can see benefit from guided meditation in as little as 5 minutes a day! Studies show that a daily guided meditation practice of at least 18 minutes a day can enhance gray matter in the brain, which signifies youthfulness and high operating capacity of the brain. The more gray matter in your brain, the better your mind and body operates! As for exercise, you can see benefits in just 15 minutes a day. However, American College of Sports Medicine and Centers for Disease Control guidelines recommend adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity each week for adequate health and less risk of developing chronic disease which can shorten life span. If you want to achieve optimal health and a high functioning mind and body, I highly recommend adding at least a brief daily meditation practice (5 minutes/day) and daily exercise routine to your life. If you’re looking for support with both meditation and exercise, feel free to connect with me further and I can help coach you so you can achieve optimal health, fitness, and a high functioning mind! I currently offer Private Strength and Pilates Training, and am offering a new group program this fall, where the focus will be on both mindfulness and exercise! To get more details about my new group program please contact me! This program kicks off in September!
