Virtual fitness classes aren’t new, but what was once a luxury once-in-a-while offering became a “must have” overnight. There are clear benefits to operating this way — the convenience of being able to work out any time, any place — but classes are often still disorganized and lack the personal interactions of in-person classes.
This has nothing to do with the instructors…it’s the operating systems that are to blame. There aren’t software offerings or programs targeted to the specific needs and interests of businesses in the fitness industry.
It’s an effort to build and grow your fitness business in the virtual fitness world. But with some surveys suggesting that 9 out of 10 people will continue to work out at home post-pandemic*, it’s not a matter of if you adapt…but how quickly you can.
The Struggles of Virtual Fitness Instructors
There’s no real-time feedback during class
The way virtual classes are currently set up, you can’t teach and observe simultaneously. You’re toggling back and forth between teaching and squinting at the tiny tiles on your screen, trying to see if that one client is really in a backbend or they’re about to pull a muscle.
Proper form and injury prevention fall to the wayside while you try to simply keep up with the class.
Hard or impossible to interact with clients while on video
Client interactions are crucial to building a long-term relationship. People work out with others because they want that sense of community. They also want to be led by an expert (you).
We’d bet that you crave this as an instructor, too. Coaching and connecting with clients is one of the best parts of working in the fitness industry. On one-way videos, everyone is missing out on that crucial interaction that makes group fitness and one-on-one training great.
Ok, so what do we do about these virtual fitness challenges?
Right. We don’t want to beat a dead horse here. Virtual fitness classes can be tough. But they don’t have to be. We listened to the struggles of fitness instructors and designed MotivateU around them.
Here’s how we’re combating these:
MotivateU was built to offer you a better solution for leading virtual fitness classes.
We’re using AI to enhance fitness professionals…not replace them.
